Ken Done Art Car

At 14 years old Ken left school to go to the National Art School in Sydney.  After 5 years Ken became an art director and designer in New York, London and Sydney.

Ken has worked for many charities, mainly charities to do with underprivileged children.  Ken was Father of the Year in 1989.

In 1992, Ken received the Order of Australia (A.M.), for services to Art, Design and Tourism

Ken uses very bright colours, he paints a lot of Australian themes,   The paintings look like a child has drawn them.

I like the car that Ken painted because it looks really cool.

Albert Namatjira

Hi my name is HeatherD and I had to choose an Australian

artist and I chose Albert Namatjira.

Albert Namatjira was born in 1902 but sadly died in 1959.

Albert Namatjira died at the age of 57 by heart disease.

Did you know that Albert when he was  born was  called Elea not Albert.

Albert Namatjira is one of Australia’s great artists, and

perhaps the best known Aboriginal painter.

Albert love painting artworks about landscapes and

   Aboriginal things.    By HeatherD

Rolf Harris

I chose Rolf Harris. Rolf was born on 30 March 1930. He is a painter, musician, composer and a TV star. One of his famous paintings is the one he did of the Queen in 2005. Rolf did TV shows for little kids to teach them art. When Rolf was younger he used to be a brilliant swimmer and was in many comps. One of my favourite songs by Rolf is Tie Me Kangaroo Down,Sport, which became a Aussie favourite. It also bacame a hit in Britan and America. Rolf was born in Perth [South Australia] and moved to Britan in 1952. Currently he is 82.
He is one of my favorite artists ever! By Lorelei.

Sydney Nolan -Our Artist Study

Part of our Inquiry for this term has involved us finding out about our wonderful country Australia . Our artists can share historical stories through art. Sydney Nolan is the first Australian artist we have studied and we enjoyed learning about Ned Kelly through his art.
We hope you enjoy our attempts to tell Ned’s story.

Royalty in 3/4 DC ?

Whilst we have been following the Olympics, we have also been learning about England. One thing we found interesting was the Royal family.
What would it be like to be a part of the Royal family?
What would we look like if we got to wear the crown jewels?
We decided to use collage and our imaginations to make a special royal picture.
What do you think?
Would you like to be in the Royal family ?

Artist Study – Vincent van Gogh

Because we have been learning about space we thought we would look at some very famous paintings of the stars. We chose van Goghs painting Starry Starry night.Van Gogh was Dutch and remained in the Netherlands from his birth in 1853 until 1886 when he moved to Paris.During his early life, van Gogh tried a lot of professions. He worked as an art dealer, a teacher, a bookseller, a minister’s assistant, and a missionary before he became an artist.
Lucky for us he followed his passion for painting.
We used dry pastel and tried to make our own Starry, Starry night . What do you think ?
